Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Microbiology Research Assistant (Student) to join our team. This role is essential to the daily operations of our laboratory, supporting research activities, data collection, and experiments related to bioengineering and fermentation. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in biological sciences, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to follow standardized protocols while also contributing insights and observations to ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine laboratory tasks, including sample preparation, culturing microorganisms, and monitoring fermentation processes.
Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Perform data collection, analysis, and reporting in adherence to established protocols.
Collaborate with research scientists and project leads to optimize experimental procedures.
Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and any deviations or unexpected findings.
Ensure a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment by following safety and compliance guidelines.
Assist in inventory management, including ordering supplies and tracking stock levels.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Willingness to work unusual hours to support fermentation processes.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a pleasant demeanor and good interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
Experience in laboratory work is highly advantageous but not necessary.
Experience in fermentation processes is a significant advantage but not necessary.
Preferred Experience
Basic knowledge of molecular biology techniques, fermentation processes, and laboratory best practices.
Proficiency in data entry and analysis software (e.g., Excel, data management software).
